Turning Intention Into Independence

Turning Intention Into Independence

June 2026 - Turning Intention Into Independence

Freedom Is Rarely Won Overnight

On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted, but the road to freedom had been years in the making. The Founding Fathers spent months debating, compromising, and planning before putting pen to paper. They understood something that's just as true in investing today: the most meaningful outcomes rarely happen overnight.

Behavioral finance teaches us that our brains are wired to chase immediate results. We celebrate quick wins, worry about short-term setbacks, and often mistake activity for progress. Yet history tells a different story. The freedoms we enjoy today weren't secured in a single day. They were built through patience, discipline, sacrifice, and a commitment to a long-term vision.

Your financial journey works much the same way.

Markets will have periods of uncertainty. Headlines will tempt you to react. There will always be reasons to believe that "this time is different." But lasting wealth is typically created by those who remain focused on the bigger picture rather than every twist and turn along the way.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday this Independence Day, it's worth remembering that some of life's greatest achievements require the courage to stay committed when progress feels slow. Whether it's building a nation, growing your family, or building financial independence, success belongs to those who keep moving forward with Purpose (-Built Planning).

We hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July as we celebrate 250 years of freedom, perseverance, and the enduring value of thinking beyond today.

Is All This Worth It

Economy In Focus

The Data:

  • 172,000 – U.S. employers added jobs in May
  • 4.2% – Headline CPI rose to roughly a three-year high
  • 3.5%-3.75% – The Federal Reserve held rates steady
  • $70 - Brent crude has retreated under $70 per barrel

Commentary:

June continues to reflect an economy that is holding up better than many expected, even as the underlying story becomes more complex and more dependent on external forces. Job growth remains solid and broadly consistent with a healthy labor market, while upward revisions to prior months reinforce that hiring strength has been more durable than initial readings suggested.

At the same time, inflation dynamics are becoming more nuanced. Earlier energy driven inflation pressures pushed headline CPI higher, but recent declines in oil prices have begun to provide some relief. The pullback in Brent crude back into the low $70s marks a meaningful shift from the extreme price spikes seen earlier in the year and helps ease some of the near term pressure on consumers and inflation readings. While this improves the outlook on the margin, inflation is still running above target and remains uneven across categories.

Economic growth continues to be supported by resilient consumer spending, steady business investment, and productivity gains tied to technology and artificial intelligence. Corporate earnings have also helped stabilize markets, even as investors navigate shifting expectations around inflation and interest rates.

The consumer picture remains mixed. Spending has held up, but higher prices earlier in the year continue to weigh on purchasing power and sentiment. The recent decline in energy costs may provide some relief, but confidence remains fragile and highly sensitive to price swings.

For investors, the environment continues to reward patience and discipline. The economy is not weakening in a traditional sense, but it is being shaped by shifting geopolitical conditions and policy constraints that can change quickly. Staying diversified, focused on quality, and committed to long term planning remains essential as the cycle continues to evolve.
