Managing Partner

Jon Dockery, CPA

From the beginning, I have approached my career with hard work and a servant’s mentality. As a CPA, I was often assisting people with handling their tax compliance issues and answering financial planning questions from a high-level. However, I was forced to refer clients out to a select group of financial professionals but was unable to truly help the client reach their specific goals.

In 2014, the opportunity arose to transition my tax practice into a comprehensive wealth management team at LeConte.  Through this new team, I am able to use all of the knowledge I have as a CPA, trusted advisor, and financial planner along with my team at LeConte to provide comprehensive financial advice that is directed at achieving the client’s most important goals in the most tax efficient ways.  I look forward to the opportunity to serve your financial needs.

As principal of Jonathan K Dockery, CPA, PLLC.,  Jon provides advice to clients in various areas of taxation and financial planning.  He specializes in tax planning and compliance for individuals, estates and trusts, as well as various business entities including partnerships, corporations and non-profit organizations.

Jon received his Masters of Accountancy with a concentration in Taxation from the University of Tennessee and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Business Administration (Accountancy). His previous work experience includes stops at Arthur Andersen, Nissan North America, Faulkner Mackie & Cochran, and most recently at local firm, Ingram, Overholt and Bean. He is a member of the AICPA and Tennessee Society of Public Accountants.

Jon is a member of the Maryville Church of Christ where he is a small group leader and Deacon of the Stepping Stones Preschool.  He currently serves as a board member of MHS Athletic Booster club and other various financial committees. Jon is a graduate of the 2010 Leadership Blount Class.

Jon is an avid fan of both Tennessee and Auburn athletics and enjoys playing golf, hiking, and watching & coaching youth sports. He and his wife, Kristin, live in Maryville with their three boys, Nathan, Landon and Benjamin.

A Century in the Making
A Century in the Making
Ninety-seven years ago this month, a remarkable entertainment revolution began. Unlike the cartoons that came before it, this one featured sound synchronized with hand-drawn animation. It was the first in a long line of innovations from a 27-year-old animator named Walter Disney.   I spent my early childhood growing up in central Florida and made...

Unraveling the Mystery of Annuities: Where Good Intentions Get Complicated
If you have ever tried to read through an annuity contract, you know it can feel like deciphering a foreign language. There is no shortage of fine print, confusing riders, and layers of guarantees that seem to promise peace of mind but often leave investors asking, “What did I actually buy?”  This post marks the...

Sales vs. Advice: Why Knowing the Difference Can Protect Your Financial Future
When it comes to managing your money, making smart financial choices isn’t just about what you invest in – it’s also about who you listen to. Many people walk into a financial meeting thinking they’re getting professional advice, when in reality, they’re being sold something. The difference between sales and advice might seem subtle, but...
Smart Tax Planning for Retirees
Smart Tax Planning for Retirees

If you’re married and filing jointly with taxable income under $98,900 – or single with taxable income under $49,450 – you’ll pay zero percent on long-term capital gains. Zero! That...
