As we celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends this week, we want to recognize the organizations that we’ve supported over the past year and thank them for making our community a better place for all of us.
Andy Oakes, our financial planner, served as a Loaned Executive for the recent United Way of Blount County campaign that raised over $1.9 million for Blount County agencies. We’re thankful for their commitment to helping all Blount Countians have a better life.
We participated again in smoking BBQ and selling French fries at the Blount County Relay for Life in June. Over the past three years, we’ve raised over $7,000 to fight cancer and help find a cure. We’ve also been a longtime supporter of the Wellness Community, now called the Cancer Support Community, in their work to provided education, comfort and support to those fighting cancer. We’re thankful for all that they do to help those that fight and struggle with this disease.
We’re thankful for the work of the Trinity Dental Clinic and the Blount Memorial Foundation that provides dental and medical services to those that can’t afford to pay in our community.
We’re thankful for our teachers and educators that prepare our children for a better tomorrow. We support the Maryville City Schools Foundation to create opportunities for our own kids and others in our community.
We’re thankful for the Junior Service League of Maryville, who sponsors the Toys for Blount County toy drive each holiday season. They ensure that every child in need will have presents under the tree on Christmas morning.
Finally, we’re thankful for leaders like General Fred Forster who lit the path for us to follow. His life was an example for us all, and we honor his legacy by supporting those in our community that need it the most.
